Lee Carsley names closing England facet for Ireland conflict earlier than Thomas Tuchel arrives

Interim England boss Lee Carsley has given Tino Livramento his senior international debut by start the Newcastle United defender against the Republic of Ireland.

Carsley is set to step aside from the role of England boss after the Three Lions clash with Ireland, with former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel set to takeover at the beginning of next year. Earlier this week, Carsley’s England side beat Greece 3-0 out in Athens, securing revenge after they lost to the same side at Wembley in the reverse fixture back in October.

And in what will be his final England senior starting XI before returning to the role of Under 21’s boss, Carsley has handed Newcastle full-back Livramento a debut against the Republic of Ireland.

Carsley has named Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in net for his final game in charge. The back four however features two right-backs, with Livramento and Manchester City’s Kyle Walker both named in the starting XI.

The expectation is that Livramento will play at right-back while Walker will partner Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. And on the opposite flank, Livramento’s Newcastle teammate Lewis Hall gets the nod at left-back, earning what will be his second cap after making his senior debut against Greece.
