A teenager is fighting for his life and a manhunt is underway following a stabbing in Nottingham’s city centre.
The victim is in a critical condition after they were stabbed in the chest and was rushed to hospital at 4am this morning, police said. The incident occurred in High Street, near Nottingham’s Old Market Square.
Witnesses have been asked to forward come forward and police are working to gather evidence in the city centre. Cheapside, between Old Market Square and the Lace Market tram stops, has been cordoned off and trams are currently unable to pass through the area.
Chief Inspector Iain Blackstock, of Nottinghamshire Police, said they would like to anyone who thinks they may have seen something “suspicious” to come forward.
He said: “This assault left a young person in hospital with a stab wound to his chest. Our investigation is still at an early stage and we are working hard to establish exactly what happened. We are working in the area to gather evidence and would also like to speak to any witnesses who have yet to come forward. If you saw this attack or anything at all suspicious in the moments before and after we would like to hear from you.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 90 of 17 November 2024. Reports can also be made anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, the force added.
