Grimacing Olympian Taylor Knibb begged the cameraman not to film her from behind after “s***ing herself”.
Knibb, 26, is a two-time Olympic silver medalist at Tokyo and Paris in the mixed triathlon relay event. And she was back in action over the weekend as she competed in the Dubai T100.
The American cemented her spot as one of the best triathletes on the planet as she stormed to victory as the temperature ticked over 31 degrees. However, fellow athletes might not have wanted to get too close to Knibb as she revealed she suffered a hiccup during the run.
“I just s**t myself… can you not get my ass,” she begged to the cameraman as she jogged past the static TV camera towards the end of the run. The camera operator obliged as the race concluded with Knibb hitting the line first.
Knibb’s run came after swimming 2km before an 80km cycling, admitting she had a rough experience from the start to the finish of the race: “I woke up and messaged my coach that I feel rough. I was like, ‘Oh this is going to be a bad day’.
“I was kind of shocked, it only came together in the last 3km but it was brutal out there. I think it was more physical (than mental today). That was easier as you don’t have to deal with your body.”
Knibb only needed to finish second overall in Dubai to take the overall title – following victories in San Francisco, Ibiza and Las Vegas.
It rounds out a succesful season for Knibb, who can add the title to her Olympic silver medal from Paris over the summer.
