Brave Sky Sports presenter opens up on anorexia battle after Grand Slam of Darts

Sky Sports’ Abigail Davies has bravely opened up about her battle with anorexia.

Davies, 32, was a regular on TV screens as she hosted the Grand Slam of Darts from Wolverhampton last week. Luke Littler came out on top following a storming run to the final, where he dismantled Martin Lukeman 16-3 to claim his first Grand Slam.

Following the event’s conclusion, Davies bravely took to social media to talk about her current mental health, compared to last year. Along with side-by-side pictures from 2023 and 2024, she said: “Grand Slam 2023 – body was shutting down. Anorexia & suicidal thoughts controlled me again.

“GS 2024 – learning to accept weight gain, don’t feel numb & continuing to work on self worth/esteem. Relapses can happen, mental illnesses can torment but taking back control is possible.”

Davies was quick to receive support from her friends and fans – with Sky Sports colleague Ron Walker responding: “You’re doing amazingly Abi! Congratulations.”

Davies also opened up on her health battles after the Paddy Power PDC World Darts Championship back in Janaury. The host revealed on social media that just before the World Championship started on December 15, she was unwell in hospital.

Davies said: “Went to The Priory the day before the World Championship started. Final question before I left: ‘Can you promise you’ll keep yourself alive over Christmas?’

“So yeah, proud for doing what I needed to, to deal with anorexia/suicidal thoughts. Posting this for everyone in the same boat. We’ve got this.”

Davies first started working for Sky Sports in 2017 and worked her way up from a runner to a reporter. Darts fans will be hoping to see her back on their screens when the World Championship kicks off again next month.
