Pep Guardiola has agreed to stay at Manchester City – after agreeing a new one-year deal.
It is hugely welcome news for fans of the club because it ends months of speculation. The Spaniard’s current deal was due to expire at the end of the season and there were rumous he would leave the Etihad after this campaign.
He has won four Premier League titles in a row and he was linked to the England job before Thomas Tuchel was named as Gareth Southgate’s permanent replacement.
But the 53-year-old has agreed an extra year at City and the club is expected to make an official announcement in the coming days.
According to The Athletic, he has agreed to extend his stay until 2026, with an option of an additional 12 months.
