Saudi Arabia unveils ‘futuristic’ 2034 World Cup stadiums that will likely be ‘largest ever’

Saudi Arabia is already showing off their crazy stadium plans for the 2034 World Cup – which it hasn’t even been officially awarded yet.

The Arab nation was the only country to submit a bid in time for the deadline set by FIFA regarding hosts for the 2034 World Cup. This essentially guarantees Saudi the winning bid. With that in mind, they have already begun formulating ideas for their grand stadiums.

There are already four stadiums built which are all set for renovation. However, it is the 11 new stadiums which Saudi will look to impress with.

The showstopper is placed to be the King Salman International Stadium in Riyadh. It is planned to have 92,760 seats. This would make it the biggest ever stadium to host a World Cup game. As expected, it is set to stage the opening and closing game of the tournament.

The behemoth of a stadium is scheduled to be completed in 2029. The computer images show green hills that connect the arena to the outside ground, a unique touch for the country that is home to the fourth largest desert in the world.

Riyadh will also be home to the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium. The 47,000 capacity stadium is also set to be erected in 2029 as Saudi continues to try and prove itself as a football powerhouse.

There is even going to be a stadium in the world-renowned The Line mega city. It will be 350 metres above ground.

Their neighbours Qatar splashed the cash building stadiums for the 2022 World Cup. The iconic Stadium 974, built out of cargo containers, now lies abandoned and disused.

The stadium deemed the “beacon of sustainability” had been designed so that it could be dismantled and built in another country. Two years after Argentina took the prestigious World Cup in 2022, the stadium still remains.

The FIFA award ceremony for the 2034 World Cup is scheduled to take place on December 11. This is where it is almost certain to be handed to Saudi.
