People realise who Liam Payne supported as Adrian Chiles goes to funeral in soccer coat

People have realised who Liam Payne supported as Adrian Chiles donned a football coat to his funeral.

Liam was laid to rest on Wednesday (November 20) as his former One Direction bandmates – Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik – all arrived to say their final goodbyes. Other celebrities were in attendance too including Cheryl, who dated Liam between 2016 and 2018, and Chiles.

Chiles arrived at the Home Counties church wearing a West Brom training coat. Liam, who tragically died at the age of 31 on October 16, was a huge Baggies fan.

“We’re shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Baggies fan and musician, Liam Payne,” the club said alongside a photo of Payne at their home stadium, the Hawthorns, after his passing. “Our thoughts are with Liam’s family, friends and loved ones at this tragic time.”

Payne declared that he was a ‘huge West Brom supporter’ when he featured in Soccer Aid , the annual charity football match, in 2022. “I don’t get to the games as often as I’d like, though,” he added.

The Championship side sent Liam a customised shirt back in 2017, featuring the name of his newborn son, Bear, who he’d welcomed with fellow pop star Cheryl weeks earlier.

Former professional footballer Robbie Keane was also in attendance. Keane played alongside Liam in Soccer Aid.

The ex-Tottenham striker penned an emotional tribute on social media: “So sad to hear this terrible news. Liam was such a loveable person when I spent time with him @SoccerAid and with close friends in Dubai. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time. RIP Liam.”
