Revealed: Britain’s ‘costliest mince pies’ (and a few bakeries even need you to tip!)

‘Tis the season to indulge in sweet treats as Britons snuggle up in front of the fire and tuck into a mince pie (or six).

Most will spend a couple of pounds for a box of the hearty baked goods, perhaps shelling out a little bit more as a special treat.

Upmarket supermarkets Waitrose and Marks & Spencer are selling their premium boxes of mince pies, made with Cognac, at £4.

However, upmarket bakeries and retailers are charging more than triple that for a box – and that’s without a tip for staff members.

On Tuesday, FEMAIL revealed that Pump Street Bakery, located in the village of Orford, Suffolk, is charging an eye-watering £25 for just six pies.

It seems several bakeries have followed suit, charging upwards of £15 for a box and billing it as ‘luxury’.

London-based bakery Jack & Beyond and nationwide chain Patisserie Valerie both have options to tip staff upon entering payment details.

Gail’s is also charging a jaw-dropping £14.95 delivery to get their baked treats dropped off at your door.

Here, FEMAIL reveals some of the priciest mince pies you can get your hands on this Christmas – but only you’re willing to splurge.
