‘Slightly mad’ and uncommon British ‘Fast & Furious’ automobile with V8 engine on sale for £79,000

A Fast & Furious-inspired, super rare MG dubbed a “slightly mad” motor is up for grabs at a whopping £79,000.

This MG XPower SV-R model is one of the exclusive 42 ever produced. As the unique 175mph beast celebrates its 20th anniversary, it’s hit the market with a bang.

The XPower SV-R – capable of rocketing from 0-60mph in a blistering five seconds – boasts a 4.6 litre V8 325 bhp engine. Touted as the most elusive MG to ever grace the roads, this model has barely been broken in with just 10,500 miles on the clock.

Motorists told ‘don’t remove your winter coats’ or face £100 fine with DVLA rule

Classic car dealer DM Historics is flogging this beauty, as Luxury Auto News has highlighted.

A spokesperson from DM Historics gushed: “The SV-R, which celebrates its 20th birthday this year, is a piece of British automotive history: the rarest and most potent MG of all.”

It’s a car with a fascinating backstory, styled by the designer of the McLaren F1, Peter Stevens and inspired by the Fast and Furious films.

“The SV-R represents a time of plucky optimism in the UK’s motoring industry. It took the fight to the supercar establishment in the early 2000s – the likes of Ferrari, Porsche and Maserati – combining V8 power with a cutting edge, lightweight, carbon-aluminium construction.

“Now a cult performance hero, and one of just 42 cars made, it’s got all the makings of a true British classic.”

Jack Twinam, Sales Manager at DM Historics, enthused: “We’re delighted to offer this fine example of the cult-classic MG XPower SV-R for sale. While it never sold in the number” MG Rover might have hoped for, 20 years on from its launch, the XPower SV-R stands out as a bold, brave – and, it must be said, slightly mad – experiment in the history of British sports car engineering.

“It’s a machine that conjures up an age of optimism and ambition in the UK car industry, and is remembered fondly by enthusiasts as a machine that dared to be different.

It also only has 10,500 miles on the clock.

“Thanks to its innate character and charm, coupled with rarity and serious performance credentials, as it passes its 20th birthday, the SV-R has become a sought-after collector’s item.

“This example has been pampered by enthusiast owners since new and presents in exceptional condition throughout. It’s likely the best and only SV-R available on the market.”
