UFOs exist however investigators discovered no proof they’re piloted by aliens, defence chief says

A defence chief has finally admitted UFOs exist but added investigators have found no evidence they are piloted by aliens.

Dr Jon Kosloski (corr) told US senators Pentagon staff were probing “some very anomalous objects’”. Something anomalous “deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected – atypical, irregular, abnormal”, according to the Oxford English Dictionary.

Dr Kosloski is the new director of the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office – aka AARO – set up to probe hundreds of reported close encounters between mystery craft and military personnel.

His groundbreaking remarks to a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities are being hailed the first concession by a senior Government official that UFOs – now known as UAPs or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena – actually exist.

While the defence chief said his investigators had been able to identify the objects behind many sightings he admitted some remained baffling.

One particularly intriguing unresolved case he described involved a large orange orb observed floating several hundred feet above the ground by a cop in the western US. As the officer approached the spot believed to be directly beneath the sphere he saw another “blacker than black” object the size of a car.

Dr Kosloski (corr) told spellbound senators: “As he got 40 to 60 metres away from the object it tilted up about 45 degrees and then it shot up vertically.

“Then it shot up vertically he says 10 to 100 times faster than any drone he’s ever seen before.

“And it did that without making a sound as far as he could tell from inside his vehicle.’’

The object reportedly emitted very bright red and blue lights as it departed the scene which illuminated the inside of the cop’s car.

Another baffling case involved a stationary cylinder observed hovering over a base in the US south-west before abruptly disappearing.

The UFO, observed by US government contractors leaving the facility, was described as the size of a commercial aircraft and was accompanied by a bright white light.

“Obviously an object that large, stationary – unless it’s a blimp – is unusual,” Dr Kosloski said.

“But then disappearing.

“We can’t explain how that would happen.’’

In another sighting one aircraft flying parallel to another while filming it captured footage of a much smaller object that appeared to have passed between them at high speed.

Dr Kosloski said his team may be nearing a resolution with one of the three cases but added there were others that still mystified his investigators who did not believe `every object’ was a `bird, a balloon, or a UAV’ – aka drone.

“We do have some very anomalous objects,’’ he added.

Among cases closed were `The Puerto Rico Object’ which appeared in a video filmed in 2013 by a US Customs and Border Protection aircraft near Aguadilla on the Caribbean island.

Dr Kosloski told the senate the object in the video was assessed with high confidence by his office as “likely a pair of balloons or sky lanterns” which had been “floating at about seven knots over the airport”.

Another reported UFO in a 2017 US Navy video was due to a “parallax” – a trick of the eye which made it look like the object was moving much faster than it seemed.

Pixel-by-pixel analysis of an object filmed by a drone capturing the eruption of Mount Etna in Italy in 2018 showed it was not flying through the deadly volcanic plume – as it appeared – but was 170 metres away, Dr Kosloski said.

He told senators it was vital military personnel continued to report suspected close encounters on national security grounds and there needed to be `more persistent monitoring’ of the skies.

After the hearing he admitted some cases completely baffled him.”There are interesting cases that I, with my physics and engineering background and time in the IC, I do not understand,’’ he said.

IC is an abbreviation for the intelligence community.

“And I don’t know anybody else who understands them either,’’ he added.

According to AARO’s latest figures 757 UFO sightings were reported within the past year bringing the total number of cases under investigation to 1,652.

While most had been identified as common objects like balloons, birds, or drones 21 remained mysteries and were “particularly interesting”.

The report added: “It is important to underscore that, to date, AARO has discovered no evidence of extraterrestrial beings, activity, or technology.’’
