Conor McGregor has been axed from a popular video game following an Irish jury’s guilty verdict in the recent civil rape case.
The Dublin trial, which lasted nearly two weeks, concluded on Friday with the jury finding McGregor civilly liable.
The lawsuit was lodged by an Irish woman, Nikita Hand, who alleged that McGregor and his mate James Lawrence had non-consensual sex with her in a Dublin hotel in December 2018. The jury ordered McGregor to pay around $260,000 to Hand, but cleared Lawrence of any liability.
Today, the renowned video game series ‘Hitman’, under its parent company IO Interactive, declared that McGregor’s character will be erased from the game due to the jury’s decision. McGregor was incorporated into the game earlier this year as part of a downloadable content add-on.

Although the add-on will no longer be accessible, users who have already bought the content can continue to play it. “In light of the recent court ruling regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has made the decision to cease its collaboration with the athlete, effective immediately,” read a statement posted on IO Interactive’s social media.

“We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications. Consequently, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr. McGregor from our storefronts starting today.”
As of now, IO Interactive is the only McGregor-associated brand to distance themselves from the Irish UFC star post the incident.
McGregor has insisted that he did nothing wrong and that the sexual encounters were consensual. He recently hinted on social media that he intends to challenge the court’s ruling.
However, these posts have since been removed.
