The former TOWIE star, 37, was in America for a Formula One event on the weekend and revealed in a video on his flight back to the UK that he had been hospitalised.

Showing off a giant scar on his forehead, he explained on Monday: ‘I’m coming home with a little scar – I fell in the bathroom.

‘I wasn’t drunk, it was the middle of the night and I was half asleep. I’m all good, absolutely fine and on my way home to see the wife.’

He concluded: ‘Now it’s home time, Christmas, and I can’t wait to see my loved ones.’

Mark also shared a post by Steve Weiser, the Las Vegas Bureau Chief at Extra TV, which featured snaps of himself in hospital.

Mark previously worked as an entertainment correspondent with Extra TV but stepped down in 2019 to spend more time with his wife.

He told The Sun at the time that it ‘feels like the right time’ for him to return home.

Mark said: ‘I’m no longer living in LA. I was there for nearly two years and had the most amazing time.

‘It just feels like the right time to come back to the UK and live here with my wife and family.

‘I’ll always be grateful to the show Extra for the amazing opportunity they gave me.’

It was reported that Mark negotiated to be let out of his contract early so that he could return to the UK, however the door was left open for him to work with the show again.

Mark was no doubt keen to get into the festive spirit with Michelle after they showed off the very lavish Christmas lights and decorations at their Essex £3.5m mansion.

The TV personality took to the couple’s home Instagram account earlier this month to give fans an insight as he got into the festive spirit.

The Georgian-style windows of their home were framed in fairy lights, with leaves framing the door and reindeers stood either side.

The clips also the showed extravagant indoor decorations, which included hundreds of baubles up their sweeping staircase.

Topping off the hallway decor, a huge Christmas tree with red and gold themed bows and stars stood to the side.

Mark captioned the update: ‘It’s that time of year again!! The best time of the year!! Just when you think @4.seasonevents can’t do any better… Killed it.’

The couple have been completely renovating their Essex mansion since purchasing it in October 2019 and have been keeping fans updated with the incredible changes on their home Instagram account.

The happy couple have been together for well over a decade and married in a £1million ceremony in Suffolk in 2015.

The lovebirds have been documenting their lengthy renovation journey of their lavish Essex mansion, starting in 2019 and wrapping up in August last year, when they celebrated with a swanky pool party.

Michelle and Mark shared most of their updates on the Instagram page @wrightyhome about the stunning property, which was initially bought for £1.3 million and then fully revamped into their dream home

The jaw-dropping mansion featured five bedrooms, bar, cinema room, sauna, a custom-built kitchen, as well as an at-home gym, a five-a-side football pitch or the kitchen.

Michelle previously said: ‘I am happy to have a night on the sofa with our dogs watching TV and relaxing, but we do still like getting dressed up and go out for dinner.

‘In the old days we’d go out for dinner and drinks until the early hours. But now after dinner, I’ll look at my watch and say, ‘Its 9.30pm, we’d better get back home for bedtime’ It’s a bit more boring now.’

Over recent years, the couple have been inundated with work, so with their busy schedules it’s little wonder that the pair enjoy quality time at home together.
