Tragic twist in case of lady who disappeared as father dies looking for her

The father of a missing 31-year-old woman who vanished more than two weeks ago after landing at Los Angeles International Airport was tragically found dead on Sunday.

Ryan Kobayashi, the dad of missing person Hannah Kobayashi, had flown to Los Angeles in a desperate bid to find his daughter. Tragically, he reportedly jumped from a parking structure near the airport around 4am on Sunday (November 24), as police believe he may have killed himself, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

However, the official cause of the 58-year-old’s death has not yet been confirmed by the medical examiner.

The search for Hannah began when her family raised the alarm after receiving worrying texts from her on November 11, in which she expressed fear that someone might be trying to steal her money and identity, reports the Mirror US.

“Hannah’s last message to us was alarming – she mentioned feeling scared and that someone might be trying to steal her money and identity,” her family revealed. “She hasn’t been heard from since, and we are gravely concerned for her safety.”

Hannah originally landed at LAX on November 8, missing her connecting flight that was due to take her to New York – she had just arrived from Maui, Hawaii.

She then travelled to the Grove shopping center two days later where she attended a Nike event, it was reported, posting a picture of it to her Instagram page.

According to her family, Hannah’s irregular texting started the next day. Her aunt Larie Pidgeon told USA Today that the messages were not typical of Hannah, filled with “weird things” like calling them “babe” and vernacular she didn’t usually use.

Most recently, it was reported the family had obtained security footage from a downtown Metro train station near Crypto.com Arena, but it wasn’t clear when that footage was taken. The video shows Hannah appearing ill and with others.

Hannah has been missing for more than a fortnight

“It is evident that Hannah does not appear to be in good condition, and she is not alone,” the family told Long Beach Press-Telegram.

Hannah’s last phone communication was from LAX. She had plans to meet up with family for events in New York, but suspicions were raised when she didn’t arrive at various functions.

Her former boyfriend was reportedly on the same flight from Maui to LAX, but they didn’t sit together or converse. He continued his journey to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, while she did not. He is said to be cooperating with the investigation.
