Only a few parts of the UK could be spared from being draped into white snow ahead of an incoming storm, some weather maps say.
Plunging temperatures before Christmas could be partnered by a 411-mile snow storm as weather maps on WX Charts turnn orange from December 7, Birmingham Live reported.
At-risk are areas including Cumbria, Northumbria and Greater Manchester. There could also be significant rainfall in Cornwall, but most of the midlands, Northern Ireland and Wales look set to remain dry.

In its long-range forecast from November 30 to December 9, the Met Office said: “The largely dry, settled theme may be punctuated by brief unsettled spells though with areas of low pressure possibly crossing the UK, bringing some spells of wind and rain.”
Boffins added that things will become “less settled” as we get closer to the middle of December.

“There are signs that it will become less settled with west or northwesterly types preferred, These will bring some wetter and windier interludes with a risk of some snow, especially for hills in the north,” they said. “These conditions may prevail into late December, although drier, more settled spells may also affect the UK at times, these probably more likely towards the south. Temperatures generally close to average through the period.”
Weather warnings are already in place this week with a yellow warning for rain in the southeast of England. “Spells of rain, heavy in places, likely to lead to some disruption on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning,” the Met Office said of the warning in place from 10pm today until 12pm tomorrow.
