A mysterious UFO sighting that was allegedly caught on camera at Manchester Airport has caused a frenzy with alien fans on social media.
Footage and images of a spherical object allegedly captured by a co-pilot on the runway in June were shared to X, formerly Twitter, before the original poster’s account vanished. However, eagle-eyed extra-terrestrial followers made sure the images didn’t disappear and re-shared them. In one particular image the strange phenomenon can be seen “hovering” just above the ground, with an airplane in the background.
The footage comes after one could-be alien spotter shot a video showing a pulsating UFO with red, green and purple lights in Kansas, earlier this month.

Images and footage of the Manchester sighting quickly went viral and led to wild speculation as to what viewers were seeing. Some were impressed at the quality of the film and photos, which helped them come to their conclusions as to what it could be.
While there has been no definitive answers, the Daily Star has rounded up the five things that are in the mix.
Weather balloon

Given the shape and size of the object – it was described by the OP as being the same size as a small car – this is could be one of the likeliest of candidates.
In fact, it was one of the two possibilities offered up by a spokesperson from the airport itself, who shared that none of their equipment picked up any abnormal electrical activity on the airfield. The airport employee even went as far as to say that the image depicting the hovering orb near the track was “not legit”.
Helium balloon

Could it be that somewhere in the Manchester Airport area was a sobbing child who’d let go of their party balloon, which in turn floated off to cause a flurry of extraterrestrial conjecture?
If the picture near the runway is legit, then it’s a massive balloon. And considering the weather in the video, a massive balloon that isn’t really affected by the elements like wind and rain. But lets not right it off as an option. Big balloons exist, it may not have been that windy, and this could have been one of them.
Aliens

It’s the big one. While the airport reported nothing out of the ordinary had been picked up or witnessed, who’s to say that the little green men haven’t developed some tech that helps them to fly under the radar unnoticed.
Even British ufologist and film-maker Mark Christopher Lee has weighed in suggesting that it was definitely a UAP.
He said: “This blue orb sighting reminds me of UK researcher Timothy Good who wrote about the Australian government capturing an alien sphere in 1957 – it was made of an unknown substance and had no visible means of levitation.”
Drone

There has been a rise in drone use over recent years. For decades the devices have become more and more sophisticated and integral into military operations. There has even been talk of the Russian Army using them for nefarious purposes with supposed aerial activity spotted near UK nuclear power plants.
Could it be that this was a stray drone that stumbled off course and into the flight path of holidaymakers?
Whatever it was, it would’ve required some power to get it to its location, and airfield staff quashed any such speculation, saying nothing was picked up on their radars.
CIA Tech

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is a US government agency that collects, analyzes, and provides intelligence on foreign countries and global issues.
In order to gather said information, have they devised a new bit of tech which swoops in and out of sensitive areas undetected? Could this be a state-of-the-art blue orb that has been inadvertently shared by a co-pilot? Is this the real reason why the X (Twitter) account of the OP vanished offline shortly after the images were shared?
If so, it does beg the question why Manchester Airport on a cold and drizzly day.
