The Met Office has issued a chilly warning to Brits as an Arctic onslaught is set to send temperatures tumbling come Monday.
Forecasters predict a short-lived mild Sunday before the big freeze, with thermometers potentially plunging to a shivering -7C in parts of rural Scotland on Monday night.
The incoming cold snap means that some areas will wake up to a frost-bitten Tuesday morning sprinkled with rain, sleet and snow flurries. The Met Office’s weather forecast alerts: “Rain for some on Monday, then turning colder with wintry showers in the north.”

Moreover, Met Office spokesperson, Becky Mitchell, cautions: “Starting on Monday we will see some colder weather arrive. Temperatures will be a bit below average to start next week. Monday we have got some showery outbreaks of rain, and northerly wind.”
She further explains, “Temperatures on Monday could fall as low as about minus 7C in parts of rural Scotland overnight. That is likely to be the coldest night of the week.”
However, in a twist, Sunday is expected to bask in a balmy 16C though it comes with a dash of wet and blustery conditions, reports the Mirror.
As Becky notes, “The rest of the weekend is looking rather mild,” adding, “We have got highs of 15 or 16C on Sunday. It will be quite wet and windy though, we will have various bands of rain coming in from the west, which could be heavy at times, and also very breezy across the whole country.”
UK weather sees spring put on hold as heavy rain expected, but without causing havoc. Temps could soar to 16C in the southwest come Sunday, while a chilly snap hits Monday and more showers due Tuesday.
“Thereafter temperatures are probably turning average from midweek, with rain at times and some dry interludes too,” confirmed Becky from the Met Office.
It’s looking like we’re set for a rainy but frosty Monday with possible snowy episodes up north with a wet, sleety, snowy medley on Tuesday.
