Woman ditches job to turn out to be ‘Christmas tree dresser’ charging Brits £120 a pop

A single mum says her Christmas tree decoration business is booming after spotting a gap in the market when her usual business slowed during the holiday season.

Sally-Anne Long, from Reading, Berkshire, helps families jazz up their Christmas trees with festive baubles and twinkling lights. The 39 year old entrepreneur, who used to be a professional declutterer, said she was inspired after finding many folks describing decking the halls for Christmas as an “overwhelming” chore.

Depending on the tree’s size, she pockets between £90 and £120 per job.

“I recently did a 7ft one that took me three hours because I spent an hour fluffing it up and making it look perfect,” Sally-Anne revealed. She described one of her creations as “very grand, quite opulent and all the decorations were traditional golds, silvers and reds.”

But her talents don’t stop at trees; she also offers to set up stunning Christmas tablescapes in clients’ dining rooms

She says it’s all about the joy on her customers’ faces when they see their homes transformed into a festive paradise, reports the BBC.

“I love seeing them happy, if I didn’t get that I’d probably just tear it all down and start again,” she admitted. With a background as a visual merchandiser, arranging eye-catching displays in department store windows, she believes people appreciate her professional touch.

“I think they like the idea of someone who knows what they’re doing,” she said, reflecting on her success.

When January hits and the festive cheer is gone, she’s also there to dismantle the decorations and pack them away. “It’s nowhere near as fun, taking it down, and I just think people can’t be bothered to do it themselves,” she shared.

“You end up with all these tangled lights and that’s where I come in because I like things done in a strategic way.”
