Tesco shoppers have been slammed by staff for discussing things that should really stay behind closed doors. Many Brits often walk around stores in a world of their own, seemingly thinking nobody is listening to their musings or discussions.
But it appears as though they are being listened to – at least in Tesco, anyway. Taking to Reddit to vent their annoyances (as Tesco staff seem to enjoy doing these days), some of the more unusual stories overheard by staff have been shared on the social media platform.
Posting in the Tesco subreddit, on a thread titled “weirdest stuff you’ve overheard while working,” one recalled how they overheard someone tell their “mum” to “stay there and don’t move” because they didn’t want to risk the woman having “another cardiac arrest”.

And another recalled: “People who don’t know any basic geography, people who are way too loud talking about their sex life (both men and women, usually younger), people who say really stupid shit in other languages.
“Girly girls and rich people too. Always something so completely outlandish coming out of their mouths.”
A second said: “Wasn’t anything crazy but one of my favourites was someone speaking fluent French, then saying (in English) “bring your favourite gin” in a mocking tone (but still with a French accent), and then resuming speaking in French.”
A third recalled: “Not long ago I was picking in the medicine aisle where I over heard and older gentleman telling his carer ‘I do know what it’s for, you rub it on your…’ when she stopped him mid sentence, turns out he was looking at the sex lubrication.”
But the winner for weird stories goes to user Wilsonthehuman, who shared: “I was once restocking the cigarettes in the express store I worked in, and a guy at the self-serves went ‘She pulled it so hard I thought it came off.
“Out of curiosity, I turned around using grabbing more packs to stock the cabinet as an excuse, and there was a dude standing with his mate rubbing his nipple through his shirt. I did not ask for elaboration but had to fight to not burst out laughing.”
It seems to be quite fun working in Tesco…
