Gary Neville hurls drink over Jamie Carragher as Man Utd icon enjoys Liverpool misfortune

Gary Neville hurled his drink over Jamie Carragher as the Manchester United legend celebrated Newcastle’s 90th minute equaliser against Liverpool.

The Overlap squad held a watch-along for the midweek games. This gave fans a unique experience to watch the highs and lows of their favourite pundits.

Celebrating as if United won the title, Neville jumped out of his seat when Fabian Schar equalised for Newcastle in the final minutes of the game and proceeded to chuck his drink at his fellow pundit.

The drink that was thrown was in light-hearted revenge for the way Carragher had celebrated Mohamed Salah’s goal less than 10 minutes before. The former Reds defender proved he still has some aerial ability in him by leaping onto Neville when Liverpool scored what he thought was the winner.

Caught in the crossfire of the Neville thrown beverage was Carragher’s son James, who currently plays for Wigan Athletic. The two Scousers looked distraught as their beloved Liverpool had thrown away a win and they were soaked to boot.

Roy Keane and Ian Wright were also part of the watch-along, although the pair were sat on a different sofa and avoided the drama. They were more focused on the error that Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher had made that led to the Schar finish.

To make matters worse, the viral clip of Carragher getting drenched also has him wearing a United shirt. The ex-Liverpool star was wearing it as a joke because he wanted the Red Devils to beat Liverpool’s title rivals Arsenal.

Some fans weren’t so impressed with the celebrations however, with one saying: “Couldn’t watch more than a second of high-pitched screaming like that” and another fan joined in with: “I am old enough to remember their footballing skills – thankfully.”
