Roy Keane slams Marcus Rashford’s potential and ‘f***ing garbage’ Man Utd mistake

Manchester United legend Roy Keane unleashed a blistering tirade against Marcus Rashford, slamming his performance in the clash with Arsenal as ‘shocking’.

Ruben Amorim experienced his first setback as United manager since his appointment last month, with Arsenal’s prowess from set pieces sealing the deal on a rain-drenched evening at the Emirates. Arsenal secured victory with second-half strikes from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba, closing the gap to Premier League frontrunners Liverpool to seven points.

However, it was Rashford who drew the ire of former United legend Keane, who criticised Rashford’s impact after he came on as a substitute for Amorim. While on The Overlap’s watchalong, Keane didn’t hold back: “I’ll tell you something, Marcus Rashford’s come on. His general play as a footballer is shocking.”

He added: “Watch his header there. Have United’s subs given anything since coming on? Nothing. The subs have done nothing. Manchester United deserve nothing anyway.

“They were rubbish. You know what happens with United? They fool you, they fool you. They’re not dynamic.”

Keane didn’t stop there, expressing his disappointment with the team’s overall effort, reports the Express. He said: “I’m really disappointed with Manchester United. I thought the players were going through the motions a little bit.

“It was easy for Arsenal. The first half was fine but I was expecting a bit more. The manager’s probably thinking he thought United were a bit better than this. I was getting really frustrated at the end there.”

Roy Keane didn’t mince his words, slamming another error from Rashford, as he vented: “That’s rubbish. That’s f***ing rubbish, he’s just kicked it out of play.”

The Irish legend was visibly shocked by the performance at the Emirates Stadium, gaping in disbelief while Arsenal legend Ian Wright revelled in the Gunners’ triumph right next to him.

Marcus Rashford had been on a roll under Amorim, hitting the net against Ipswich Town and then scoring twice in a weekend victory over Everton. However, after being relegated to the bench for the Arsenal game, Rashford couldn’t deliver the goods as a sub.

Despite the setback, Amorim tried to lift his team’s spirits, reflecting: “The set pieces changed the game. We could’ve been more aggressive towards the Arsenal box. Until the set pieces the game didn’t have too many opportunities for both sides, the set pieces killed the game.

“They can put a lot of players near the goalkeeper and it’s almost impossible to fight for the ball but we have to manage to defend them and we already know we have to be better.

“We were committed and we lost to the set pieces. If Matthijs [de Ligt] can score in that moment the momentum would be different. We tried to play but they are a very organised team and it’s hard to score. I felt the players were in control of the game, the set pieces changed the game in the second half.”
