Liverpool have confirmed that the Merseyside derby was postponed due to severe weather, high winds, and significant travel disruptions.
The decision to postpone the Premier League match, which was scheduled to be the final top-flight derby at Goodison Park, was made on Saturday morning. Storm Darragh has caused widespread disruptions across the UK, with numerous sporting events being cancelled or postponed.
In a statement, Liverpool outlined the three reasons why the call had been made: “Liverpool FC can confirm today’s Premier League fixture against Everton at Goodison Park, scheduled for a 12.30pm kick-off, has been postponed.

“Following a Safety Advisory Group meeting this morning at Goodison Park, attended by officials from both clubs, as well as representatives from Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council.

“It was decided that due to the risk to safety in the local area, and the amber severe wind warning that remains in place until 6am on Sunday, today’s match is postponed on safety grounds.
“We appreciate this will be deeply disappointing for supporters, but the safety of fans, staff and players is of paramount importance. Information relating to a rearranged date for the fixture, including ticketing, will be announced in due course.”
The west of the country has been particularly affected, with other events on Merseyside, including a race day at Aintree, also being postponed.

Matches across the nation are being scrapped left, right and centre as the frosty conditions take hold. The Met Office have chucked out multiple warnings, leading to fixtures at Cardiff City, Plymouth Argyle, and Bristol Rovers getting the axe.
Now, Manchester United have said their showdown, scheduled for a half-five kick-off at Old Trafford, is under the weather watch.
The clash with Nottingham Forest is still going ahead as planned, but the Red Devils will be keeping the fanbase updated while the bigwigs keep an eye on Mother Nature’s mood swings.
