Half bare soccer fan takes tub in sink at motorway service station after away defeat

A football fan washed away his sorrows after his team lost – by bathing in a motorway service station hand basin.

The Exeter City supporter stripped down to his underwear and clambered into the round metal sink, with fans capturing the unsanitary moment on camera. He was on the way back from his team’s 2-0 League One loss to Stockport County on Saturday (December 7).

The round trip took eight-and-a-half hours and covered 476 miles. And cheered on by fellow supporters laughing and chanting ‘Red army’ he proceeded to lather himself from the hand soap dispensers and even washed his hair.

Those in attendance were quick to whip out their cameras and capture the moment – with some sharing it on social media, where it both delighted and distressed viewers in equal measures.

Fellow fans were split on his bizarre antics, as reported by What’s The Jam. One sarcastically said: “Can I bring my mate back to the gaff. He’s sound probably just sit in the corner with a beer… The mate at 5am.”

A second fan added: “Funny thing is he’s probably got kids.” While an unimpressed third weigh in with: “How embarrassing.”

He probably thought this was hilarious at the time,” a fourth scoffed. And another added: “What on earth?” However, some fans did see the funny side of the clip, with one commenting: “Class to be fair lads.” And another simply stating: “Brilliant.”

Another fan had no problem with the footage, remarking: “So long as he don’t wash his knackers in there it’s all good.” While one added: “To be fair away buses can get a bit smelly, especially on long trips…”

Seemingly for the fan in question, you don’t only “sink when you’re winning”. And that’s a good job too, given the miserable form of Gary Caldwell’s Grecians side.

Exeter City are now without a win in five League One outings, and they have a EFL Trophy clash before their next league fixture. The Grecians are back in action on Tuesday evening in the EFL Trophy last 32.

They will then host Barnsley in League One on Saturday as they look to get back to winning ways.
