The sinister door-knocker who instructed house owner on Ring doorbell ‘I’m needed for homicide’…as his id is revealed

A sinister door-knocker who confessed: ‘I’m wanted for murder’ is a convicted criminal who was being hunted by police, MailOnline can reveal.

The terrifying moment was captured by a Ring video doorbell at a house in Baildon, West Yorkshire, last month.

The dishevelled male was filmed coming face-to-face with a stunned homeowner, delivering his macabre admission.

Now, MailOnline can reveal the uninvited guest to be Alistair Houldsworth, 37 – a failed professional golfer turned sex predator.

Houldsworth, who has a catalogue of previous convictions to his name, was arrested shortly after being filmed blurting out: ‘Hello…I’m wanted for murder’.

However, he was not detained in connection with an unlawful killing – but for breaching a restraining order.

Houldsworth was due to appear before magistrates in Bradford for sentence last month.

But the case was adjourned when it emerged he was being held in prison on an unrelated matter.

Alistair Houldsworth, 37, has been revealed as the sinister door-knocker who was caught on Ring doorbell footage telling a shocked homeowner: ‘I’m wanted for murder’

Houldsworth appeared at a homeowner’s front door in Baildon, West Yorkshire

The homeowner hurried to shut the door, telling Houldsworth ‘you better go’

In the brief exchange, exclusively revealed last month, Houldsworth anxiously knocked seven times before declaring: ‘Hello….I’m wanted for murder’.

Asked to repeat himself, he replied: ‘I’m wanted for murder, yeah.’

The homeowner hurried to shut the door, telling Houldsworth ‘you better go’, who pleaded ‘listen, listen, listen’ before staggering off.

Houldworth was jailed for 19 months in 2020 after sexually assaulting a young woman and racially abusing a police officer.

A court heard he was drunk and high on cocaine when he put his hand up the woman’s skirt.

In the same grim episode, Houldsworth also assaulted a girl aged 16 and a male student.

He tried to kiss the girl and grabbed at the male victim’s bottom while stumbling about and slurring his words.

He kicked a police officer in the thigh and shouted a stream of insults at his colleagues, calling them nonces and ‘Jimmy Saviles’.

Bradford Crown Court was told that Houldsworth could have been a successful golfer only for career failure to trigger mental health issues.

The mystery encounter was captured on the homeowner’s (right) Ring doorbell camera

Houldsworth was later seen wandering away down the street and was arrested shortly after

We can reveal he also has previous convictions for sending offensive communications, public order offences, battery, common assault, threatening behaviour and assault on an emergency worker.

The gas engineer, 32, who opened the door to Houldsworth, said: ‘As soon as I looked at him, I could tell he was sketchy.

‘He was fumbling his words and he said ‘I’m wanted for murder’.

‘I couldn’t believe what he said, so I asked him to repeat what he said, and he said the same thing again.

‘I looked him up and down and told him to go away, and closed the door on him.

‘I came back inside and looked out of the window and saw him staggering down the street.

‘I found it weird – not intimidating. But if it had been an older person or a woman, they’d probably have been terrified.

‘God knows what his intentions were. I wasn’t going to entertain him to find them out, to be honest.’

Recalling the incident, the man, who asked not to be named, added: ‘His opening line ‘I’m wanted for murder’ is not something I thought I’d hear opening the front door.’

Houldsworth, who is living at a probation hostel in Bradford, is set to be sentenced in January for breaching a restraining order.
