Families are warned this Christmas they could hear the slight rumble of an electric engine rather than jingle bells this year, as Father Christmas makes the switch to a Tesla
Christmas is getting greener this year as Father Christmas has apparently put his sleigh up for sale online as he trades the older model for a new electric upgrade.
Currently, there are over 1,300,000 fully electric cars on UK roads, which is a five-fold increase from the end of 2022. Santa is not one to be left behind, with the big man appearing to favour a brand-new Tesla Model 3 for delivering his presents this year. The big man – or at the very least a bearded man in a fluffy red jacket and matching hat – was spotted Oxford’s Redbridge Park and Ride.
The carpark is the biggest charging centres in the UK, and Santa decided to load up his vehicle in preparation for the big night prior to December 25. But Auto Trader tells Christmas fans not worry, as they can now Santa’s sleigh up close and personal.

Days before Santa’s spotting, his iconic green sleigh was uploaded to the used car website. The listing highlighted its unique features, including no MOT requirement, ample storage space, and its legendary reindeer powered engine. However it is noted the reindeers are not available for purchase, but owners can enjoy “Rudolph’s 14000LM red nose,” despite it’s similarity to UFO sightings.
Erin Baker, Editorial Director at Auto Trader said: “We are thrilled to see that Father Christmas feels ready to make the switch to an electric vehicle this year with Auto Trader’s support. With fantastic driving experience, lower running costs – have you seen the price of carrots? – and a silent approach making roof landings all the more discreet, it’s surely a match made in heaven.”

Electric cars appear to be getting more affordable and widely spread than ever. However, the sleigh listing shows years of love.
The green structure is complete with red velvet interior interior. The owner added the description: “After centuries of reindeer power, I’m selling my sleigh. It has been my trusty travelling companion for longer than I can remember, but the wife and I have decided it’s time to modernise a bit.”

With only one previous owner, the sleigh features “built-in jingle bells,” and a “360-degree sunroof.” However, the new owners will have to make do with no cup holders.
