Contrary to widespread opinion, Bounty isn’t the least loved chocolate in a tub of Celebrations, as per recent research.

The latest research, which polled 4,000 individuals, discovered that for 14% of participants, Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a lively discussion about the best chocolate in the selection box.

The survey, commissioned by Celebrations themselves, is urging all chocolate lovers to join the festive debate using the hashtag #MyFavourite.

Galaxy held its own in the top spots, with its caramel version bagging third place, followed by Snickers. Surprisingly, Bounty managed to nab a spot in the top five, beating out Twix, Milky Way and Mars.

However, this year it was unveiled that Mars has sunk to the bottom of the UK’s chocolate rankings, while Maltesers have risen to become the top pick.

A substantial 43% selected the malty delight as their favourite, overshadowing Galaxy, which clinched second place with 34%. The mini-Mars bar, on the other hand, was chosen by a mere 18%.

The study also spotlighted Londoners’ particular partiality for Maltesers. To celebrate this, Roman and Martin Kemp hit the streets of London in a festive Tuk Tuk, declaring Maltesers as the city’s top choice.

Roman Kemp weighed in: “Nothing says Christmas like an argument over the chocolate tub. Whether it’s about who gets the last one or why no one’s eating the Bounty, the debates are endless. I’m firmly on Team Maltesers, but dad is very much Team Twix.”

A notable 33% of those quizzed owned up to gunning for their ‘first pick’ as soon as the tin pops open. It turns out that family squabbles around claiming first dibs when the seal cracks are all too familiar, with 12% confessing to such festive tiffs.

Yet, there’s 20% that champions a just approach, insisting on a round-robin method where each person picks one sweet treat before doubling back for seconds.
