Thierry Henry dropped Micah Richards in hot water during CBS Sports’ live Champions League coverage this week.
The American show has gained plaudits for its informed and hilarious coverage of Europe’s elite club competition over recent years, with Richards, Henry and Jamie Carragher receiving significant praise, alongside host Kate Abdo.
And on Tuesday, the show left viewers in stitches again when Henry outed Richards for using a Snus tobacco pouch live on air.
Snus is a tobacco product that comes in a sachet, similar to a small tea bag, which users place under their lip, before nicotine is released into the bloodstream.
It is illegal to be sold in the UK, but it is not against the law to use, although there are associated health concerns, with recent data highlighting a worrying rise in professional footballers using the product.
During CBS’ coverage, Richards was present in Bergamo for Atalanta’s 3-2 defeat by Real Madrid, with Henry and Carragher back in the studio.

Henry left the panel in stitches, before Jamie Carragher joined in with a quip of his own
As Richards addressed the studio, Henry took a dig at the former Man City defender as he said: ‘Micah, what do you have in your mouth?’
Richards replied: ‘WOAH,’ as Henry put something under his lip to imitate the use of Snus.
Richards and Carragher were left in stitches as Henry mocked him and added: ‘This is how you look,’ before he stuck his tongue out and raised his eyebrows.
Carragher then quipped: ‘Good job them drug testers have gone,’ as the trio continued to laugh.
Henry didn’t let up on Richards, before the 36-year-old bit back and said: ‘I didn’t have you down as a snitch Thierry, wow.’
Meanwhile, Mail Sport reported in May how a fifth of professional footballers in the UK use Snus.
Data from 628 male players in the Premier League and English Football League as well as 51 players from the Women’s Super League found one fifth were active users.
The trendy nicotine pouches can help users relax and act as a ‘coping mechanism’, while some claim it leads to a performance benefit.
However, snus use is associated with an increased risk of oesophagus and pancreatic cancer in comparison to non-smokers, according to medical experts, while it can also lead to a larger risk of cardiovascular disease.
