Major UK cities including Edinburgh and Glasgow could see between 2cm-3cm of snow falling per hour. England won’t miss out on some festive flakes either, as the North East could see snow depths reach 3cm.

This comes alongside predictions of “unsettled conditions appear likely for most, with spells of wind and rain followed by showers affecting most areas but especially the north and northwest of the UK”.
But, it’s not all storms and shivers; there could be periods of calmer weather, “these perhaps most likely across the south late in December or into early January”.
On the thermometer, temperatures are expected to hover around the seasonal average.
