Think you’ve got what it takes to spot a liar? Test your ability to read faces and see if you can discern honesty from deceit.

It comes as a study found a fifth of working adults ‘regularly’ fib to their boss. As a recent poll found the most lies were to cover why they were late arriving to work, how busy or quiet their workload is and of course, pulling a sickie.

Most employees reckon they can bluff their way through a lie; the majority believe their lies go undetected either because they’re convincing or due to their strong rapport with their manager.

A spokesperson for 888poker, who devised the quiz, stated: “You can interpret people as much by the way they speak, as the words they use. This fun quiz will discover how observant you are of others.”

The study also revealed that those who deceive their bosses do so on average once a week, including lying about their location and reasons for missing deadlines.

“The workplace in particular is an interesting place to explore telling white lies, because the hierarchy means you could get in trouble, but also colleagues perhaps don’t know you as well as friends and family do.”

Almost a quarter of those polled reckon their colleagues fib to their boss more than they do, and a whopping 45% agree that all employees spin white lies. Intriguingly, over two-thirds also suspect their employer has told them porkies.

The top reasons for spinning a yarn include dodging trouble, making life at work smoother, and lending a hand to a mate. However, 31% believe their facial expression would give their lies away.
