A Women’s Super League clash between Tottenham and Brighton was brought to a stop as a medical emergency forced players to leave the field.
A medical emergency in the stands forced the WSL fixture between mid-table Tottenham and Brighton to be halted as players were told to stop play and leave the field.
Having already played 87 minutes, the match at Broadfield Stadium was temporarily suspended and both teams were directed down the tunnel after initially waiting on the pitch.
Medics rushed over to the stands as concerns grew for the fan during the worrying scenes. It took 14 minutes for the situation to be cleared and players being brought back out to finish the game.
Both clubs shared their feelings on social media with Brighton writing: “Our thoughts are with the individual receiving care,” whilst Tottenham said: “Our thoughts are with the individual receiving care.”
There is unconfirmed speculation over whether it was fan or steward receiving the car. It was reported that they were taken off the pitch in a wheelchair.
There has been no update on the condition of the person involved.
