Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has broken his silence on social media following the Red Devils stunning 2-1 win over rivals Manchester City
Marcus Rashford has broken his silence following Manchester United’s stunning 2-1 comeback win over Manchester City.
Ruben Amorim’s side netted twice late in the second half at the Etihad to come from 1-0 down to beat Pep Guardiola’s City 2-1 in dramatic fashion. However, prior to the game, Amorim made the shock decision to leave Rashford out of the United squad all together, with the 27-year-old not injured.
It was a statement decision by Amorim, who was vindicated in his choice to not bring Rashford to the Etihad after Amad Diallo’s late winner. And taking to Instagram, Rashford has now broken his silence following the game.
The United star, who could be sold in January posted a photo from his living room of the TV following Diallo’s late goal, captioning his post: “Yesssssssss! Love it lads.”
Speaking after the game of his decision not to play Rashford against City, Amorim said: “It’s not a disciplinary thing. Next week it’s a new week, new life. It’s how you dress, how you eat and how you interact with your team mates. When people in the club are losing their jobs, we have to push our standards incredibly high.”
He added: “Nothing special. Finish one game, start a new week. New week, new life, if they train well they will compete for a place in the team. They are playing because they are talented, we need Rashford and Garnacho.
“Next week if they train well like the others. It’s the same for everyone. They will play or be on the bench. It was not a disciplinary thing. We have to improve our standards inside and outside the pitch. It was a normal week.”
During the first half, Mason Mount went off injured, something which could lead to Amorim bringing Rashford back into the fold, alongside Alejandro Garnacho, who was also left out against City.
United return to action on Thursday evening in the Carabao Cup when they take on Tottenham Hotspur for a place in the semi-finals of the first domestic cup competition of the 2024/25 season.
