A Premier League ace was once in a relationship with Spanish model Marta Diaz – but after four years it ended in tears for the couple
Tottenham star Sergio Reguilon made headlines in 2019 when it was announced the Spaniard was dating the stunning influencer Marta Diaz.
The couple were together as the Premier League defender went on various loans from Spurs to Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and most recently Brentford. Scorching hot Marta, who has previously been dubbed ‘hotter than the sun’, was not afraid to show off the couple on her social media pages which includes an Instagram following of 3million.
Reguilon, who turned 28 on Monday, was a frequent feature in his girlfriends YouTube videos. In fact, the couple announced their dating status on the video-streaming platform. The Spanish defender was an online-regular himself having been the first ever Spanish player to join an eSports team in 2019.
In May of 2023, Marta had posted a picture to Instagram celebrating her and Reguilon’s four year anniversary. Five months later, the model could be seen crying in her Amazon Prime documentary series, La Vida de Marta Diaz.
Although the Prem defender can be found in the documentary rather frequently, it seemed that in the final episode, Marta was admitting to the pair having split.
She said: “I would say many things to Sergio… Thank you, thank you for…” Her voice then cracked as she could be seen getting visibly upset.
She continued: “For everything. He has helped me a lot and he has been a very, very important pillar for me, and he will always be.”
Although rumours before the documentary released had already hinted at a break-up between the two, it looked like Marta was admitting that it was over.
Added to this was the fact that Reguilon did not appear at the shows premiere, nor did he attend former team-mate Marcos Llorente’s wedding which Marta went to.
This still was not the end of the story. The social media star broke down in tears whilst appearing on ‘El Desafio,” a Spanish reality TV show. Marta could once again be seen struggling with her feelings.
‘I’m not crying because of the performance,” she said. “It’s just that this week has been very complicated for me personally.
‘I was rehearsing and concentrating on what my wonderful coaches were telling me, while in reality I was thinking about something else.’
Although Reguilon had a semi-successful loan stint at Brentford last season, he has been left out of Ange Postecoglou’s plans this season. The rise of Destiny Udogie has seen the Spaniard replaced.
