Charlotte Tilbury sells her eponymous make-up model to Spanish agency, however will preserve a minority share till 2030

Charlotte Tilbury has sold her eponymous make-up brand and will hand full ownership of her line to a Spanish firm by 2031.

Barcelona-based Puig, which also owns Carolina Herrera, Dries Van Noten and Jean Paul Gaultier, first gained a minority stake in the brand in 2020, and in the four years since, Charlotte Tilbury has more than tripled its net revenue.

Its successes led Puig to today reveal that it has extended its partnership with Charlotte Tilbury until 2030.

The makeup mogul, 51, who spends her time between London and Ibiza and is a close pal of supermodel Kate Moss, will maintain a majority stake until 2030, before Puig takes full ownership in 2031, Vogue Business reported.

‘It is a privilege to continue our strong collaboration with Charlotte and her team,’ Puig’s chairman and CEO of the family-owned firm Marc Puig said to the fashion magazine.

MailOnline has contacted Puig and Charlotte Tilbury for comment.

Charlotte found fame as a make-up artist backstage on the fashion week circuit, before establishing her brand in 2018.

Her products quickly became synonymous with soft glamour makeup, earning a host of famous fans, including Bella Hadid, Kylie Minogue, and Sienna Miller.

In 2020, after just eight years building up her empire, Charlotte completed a deal with Spanish company Puig to take her great British brand global.

Puig acquired a majority stake for an estimated £1billion, with Charlotte retaining a ‘significant minority’ and continuing as chairman, president, and chief creative officer.

Reports about how much she herself earned out of the lucrative Puig deal vary between £50 million and £500 million.

The brand’s successes is largely down to its hero products, including the Pillow Talk lipstick range and Magic Cream.

Between April 2020 and March 2021, at a time when we were told women weren’t even wearing make-up due to the pandemic, five products from the Pillow Talk range sold every minute.

Charlotte grew up in Ibiza. Her artist father, Lance, and film production manager mother, Patsy, moved there when she was nine months old and became part of a thriving party scene.

Before she was ten years old, she would be dancing with Grace Jones in nightclubs to sets by James Brown.

The beauty industry has proven a lucrative business for the rich and famous in rceent times, and 2019, Kylie Jenner became a bona fide billionaire at the age of 22 after selling the majority stake in her cosmetics brand for $600 million (£473,385,600).

Beauty product giant Coty Inc. announced in November 20219 it was buying a 51 percent stake in Jenner’s make-up and skincare empire.

The then-22-year-old reality-star-turned-beauty-mogul still owns an estimated 44 percent stake. At the time, the sale gave Jenner’s company a new valuation of $1.2 billion.

Jenner was named the world’s youngest self-made billionaire of all time by Forbes earlier this year with an estimated net worth of $1 billion.

Jenner, who is the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner family, started her make up line in 2015 by selling lipstick kits.

The kits sold out within minutes of launching – an early sign of the power of her now 270 million-plus social media following.

Meanwhile, Selena Gomez has similarly struck a high note with her cosmetics company Rare Beauty.

The actress and singer, 32, founded the brand in 2019 before launching it in North America in 2020.

In 2022, the company sold around $70 million (£55 million) in just the blush category alone according to Bloomberg.

Meanwhile, Ms Moss, 50, exuded her usual glamour with a pink eyeshadow look.

A regular in the Tilbury campaigns, the two women have been friends since they met aged 19 on a magazine shoot in the 1990s and Ms Moss is even the godmother to Charlotte’s children.
