Fans have expressed their concern for Jose Mourinho following a worrying health update.
It has been reported that Fenerbahce boss Mourinho will undergo surgery abroad due to a health problem.
Mourinho was in the dugout as Fenerbahce drew 1-1 with Eyupspor in the league on Friday, and in fact gave a damning assessment of his side’s performance and the quality of the match.
Fenerbahce are not set to return to action until January 5, when they will host Hatayspor.
Turkish sports journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu wrote on X: ‘Jose Mourinho will leave Istanbul today (December 21) to undergo surgery abroad due to a health problem he is experiencing.’
Naturally, with Mourinho being one of the biggest names in the sport, there was an outpouring of support for the former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss online.

In addition, another fan wished Mourinho well as they wrote: ‘Get well soon. I wish you a speedy recovery.’
Mourinho’s career has seen him take on challenges across the world, winning titles in Italy, Spain, Portugal and England – with two Champions League Trebles along the way for good measure.
So far in his first season as Fenerbahce boss Mourinho has overseen 15 wins, six draws and five defeats, with his side trailing rivals Galatasaray in the Super Lig race.
On Friday night, Eyupspor took the lead through Ahmed Kutucu in the 26th minute. Fenerbahce equalised just before half time courtesy of Youssef En-Nesyri.
Given the disappointing result, however, the Portuguese boss – famous for making his opinions known – was quick to tear into his side’s showing.
Fenerbahce are currently in second place in the Turkish league, while they are in 21st place in the Europa League league phase.

He said: ‘It was a disaster. How much of the match was played, how many stoppages were there during the match, how long were the players on the ground?’
‘This happened many times. Therefore, the quality of the match was low. There were also many technical errors. There were many technical errors. For me, it was a weak, low-quality match.
‘I am not responsible for the match being of such low quality, I am responsible for my own team, and my team also showed a weak performance today. We made a lot of technical errors individually.
‘It was difficult for us to hold and turn the ball. We made a lot of mistakes in playmaking. We were much better in the second half, we created positions, we used the edges better.
‘Although I would not say clear positions, we got into positions. Some of the ball losses we made also gave the opponent an opportunity.
‘It gave them the opportunity to make a counter-attack. It was a weak match, a weak performance on our behalf.’
