Hawk Tuah star Haliey Welch has broken her silence amid a near half a billion crypto lawsuit she’s facing backlash for.

The viral sensation has been silent since earlier this month when news broke of the disastrous meme coin face suit.

The coin, called $HAWK, fell flat on its face just hours after its launch resulting in a huge backlash. The 22-year-old, who rose to stardom earlier this year in a video where she re-enacted a sex act, decided at the beginning of December to launch her own crypto coin.

Now Welch, who is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit, has addressed her fans for the first time saying she is taking the situation “extremely seriously” and is supporting the legal team with enquiries over the memecoin disaster.

It’s after her name and likeness were used to promote the coin which debuted on December 4 and flopped in a matter of hours. A group of Cayman Island-based sellers are behind the coin.

Taking to X, the overnight star said: “I take this situation extremely seriously and want to address my fans, the investors who have been affected, and the broader community.

“I am fully cooperating with and am committed to assisting the legal team representing the individuals impacted, as well as to help uncover the truth, hold the responsible parties accountable, and resolve this matter.”

She also encouraged anyone expieriencing losses to reach out to Burwick Law, which is bringing the suit. The coin, which promised to be a fruitful investment for buyers, just like Bitcoin, fell flat on its face within hours of its launch.

Its price collapsed 93% from an original $490m (£390m ) peak market cap. Welch last addressed her fans in a late-night X Spaces audio stream on the December 4 launch of the $HAWK coin on the Solana blockchain.

That day, she defended herself from allegations, saying her “team hasn’t sold one token.” She stopped taking questions on the scandal and soon disappeared for over two weeks.
