Notorious Brit gangster Ronnie Kray ‘murdered Marilyn Monroe’ and mentioned it was ‘piece of cake’

The former PR man for notorious London gangster Ronnie Kray claimed he was hired by the American mafia to carry out the hit job on the famous blonde actress

A pal of Ronnie Kray has sensationally claimed the notorious gangster killed movie starlet Marilyn Monroe.

That’s according to the Kray twin’s former PR man, James Campbell, who heard the confession himself from the lips of Ronnie himself. Kray claimed he was hired by the American mafia to carry out the hit and that the job was a ‘piece of cake.’

The extraordinary new claims will no doubt reignite the debate over Monroe’s untimely death aged 36 at her home in Los Angeles in 1962. Campbell said that Kray boasted that he was the one who entered her room and fed her the barbituate overdose that was ruled to have killed her.

Campbell, 76, who won the Krays trust in the 80s, said: “Ronnie suddenly started talking about how he had murdered Marilyn Monroe. I was very shocked and tried to change the subject, but he was on a roll.

“He went to America. He was on a fake passport so as not to leave a paper trail. He was picked up at the airport and briefed about the job he had to do. The mob drove him to Marilyn Monroe’s house in Los Angeles. Ronnie was dressed as a maintenance man, baseball cap and a tool bag.”

Kray claimed he was let in by Peter Lawford who was the brother-in-law to president John F Kennedy.

James added: “He knocked on the door of her house and Peter Lawford answered. Ronnie said ‘where is she?’ and Lawford said ‘she’s in the bedroom’. They went into the bedroom, Marilyn Monroe was lying half-naked on the bed, it was a big bedroom with a big bed. Ronnie said to himself, this won’t take long. He force-fed her drugs and watched her die.

“He said it was a piece of cake.”

Campbell, speaking on the The Criminal Connection podcast, said the hit organised by the mob came from President John F Kennedy’s fear that Marilyn would tell all over their affair. He said the mafia boss Meyer Lansky took care of it so they could ‘have a hold’ over JFK.

He said Ronnie travelled back to London and a couple of weeks later, a visitor from America dropped a heavy package to the twins containing two gold bars, with a note from Lansky, saying: ‘Oh thank you very much’.

Ronnie and Reggie Kray were gangsters and identical twin brothers from Haggerston who were prominent from the late 1950s until their arrest in 1968. Their gang, known as the Firm, were involved in murder, armed robbery, arson, protection rackets, gambling and assaults.

In March 1969, both Ronnie and Reggie were sentenced to life imprisonment.

Ronnie, upon being certified insane, was committed to Broadmoor Hospital in 1979 and remained there until his death in 1995 from a heart attack.

Reggie was released from prison on compassionate grounds in August 2000, five weeks before he died of cancer.
