A fifth of Brits plan not to leave the house for five days over Twixmas – the gap between Christmas Day and New Year – to avoid socialising beyond the big December 25 date
Britain is set to pong from jingle smells this Christmas – with one in four festive revellers admitting they will not shower for at least three days.
Half will wear the same pair of Christmas kecks for more than a day. While 55% will not change out of their PJs for at least 24 hours.
A fifth of Brits plan not to leave the house for five days over Twixmas – the gap between Christmas Day and New Year.
While 22% of seasonal slobs will lie to loved ones to avoid socialising beyond December 25 – preferring to lounge around at home in front of the telly.
Most will not bother to cook after Christmas Day – surviving on festive left-overs for two days of breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Nearly half will not even bother to plate up their grub – nibbling it straight from the fridge while watching five hours of telly-a-day.
More than half plan to re-see a favourite series they have already watched more than once before, according to a survey of 2,001 Brit over-16s commissioned by Sky and NOW.
Around two-thirds of the nation told researchers their No1 festive pastime was watching their favourite TV shows between Christmas and New Year. Nationwide Brits will spend 1.8 billion hours glued to the box in just six days.
More than half will start and finish a series within days with 41% binge-watching all day without moving.
Top choices this Christmas will be the Harry Potter movie series, Game Of Thrones and Gangs Of London.
A Sky spokesman said the nation will be gripped by layabout-itis.
“One in four Brits won’t shower for three days or more,” they said.
“Half will wear the same pair of pants for more than a day. A fifth will go up to five days without leaving the house.
“Meanwhile 22% of Brits will lie to loved one to avoid socialising beyond December 25th and instead favour time at home bingeing boxsets and watching movies.”
Jamie Morris, executive director of content strategy and performance at Sky, encouraged the outbreak of seasonal slobbery.
“After a long year it’s clear to see that Brits are fully-embracing the no-man’s land that is Twixmas,” he said.
“Thankfully there’s some great telly to keep them company if they don’t fancy leaving the house, or even the sofa.
“It’s the perfect time to put your feet up and enjoy the best of what Sky and NOW have on offer – be that new series, classic boxsets or something you’ve watched before.
“So get your festive PJs on, snack on the leftovers and watch some cracking television.”
