EXCLUSIVE: Asda left a mum with unwanted breaded chicken in place of key parts of her Christmas meal – TikTok user Chloe Faraway revealed her hilarious ASDA substitutions
A TikTok mum has revealed Asda made a number of bizarre replacement orders for her family Christmas meal that left her with a heap of unwanted breaded chicken.
The supermarket chain seemed to think the best replacements for the Christmas food staples Chloe Faraway ordered this year was chicken. Each of her interesting replacements, including non-meat options, were changed to Asda’s breaded chicken bites.
The 12 mozzarella sticks that Chloe ordered? Breaded chicken bites. The two packs of pigs in blankets? Three packs of breaded chicken bites. The Christmas tree-shaped chicken nuggets? Yep, you guessed it. Breaded chicken bites again. That is five bags of the stuff.
“No wonder they subbed out all my breaded chicken bites,” one person joked in the comments under Chloe’s post.
Speaking to Daily Star, Chloe revealed that of the five packs she received, she sent three of them back.
“I’ve kept two boxes as no doubt my toddlers will hate their roast dinner so at least I have something else to offer them!”
Thankfully, the pigs in blankets were sourced from her Nan before she was able to find some in a shop during the Christmas rush.
The trip to the shops was “stressfully busy” and many Brits may be able to relate to Chloe’s chosen way of de-stressing.
“I sat in the car with a cheeky McDonalds for five minutes [of] peace and quiet on the way home so it’s not all bad!”
In the comments, a number of people shared their mad food substitution stories from British supermarkets. They didn’t specify which supermarket they were referring to.
“I ordered a bunch of different pies, scotch, steak, macaroni etc.,” one person explained. “Ended up with 16 scotch pies cause they didn’t have the others.”
Another person wrote: “My friend ordered a pack of blueberries once substituted for a blueberry duvet set.”
One person said: “I got 10 frozen lasagna for a scientific calculator.”
Another said: “They are wild. I remember ordering nappies and getting pregnancy tests… too late for that.”
In another comment, one person’s coq au vin ended up as a cock-up in a van. They said: “My mum once ordered a whole chicken and got sent a tin of white paint.”
An Asda spokesperson told the Daily Star: “We will deliver more than one million Christmas orders this week across the UK and whilst we always try to make sure every delivery is perfect; delays or missing items can occasionally affect a small number of orders. We will contact these customers to try and find a solution as soon as possible.”
