An 18-year-old man has died following a police chase involving a stolen car.
Officers were chasing a black Ford Fiesta in Sheffield on Monday afternoon when it smashed into a wall.
Police spotted what they believed to be a stolen vehicle while out on a pre-planned operation at around 1pm in the Hyde Park Walk area.
The driver of the Ford reacted to officers’ presence and attempted to flee the scene, before colliding with the wall after a brief pursuit.
He was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
His family have been informed and are now being supported by specialist officers, South Yorkshire Police confirmed.
East Bank Road was closed to traffic for a period while officers completed their enquiries, and has since reopened.
In a statement, the force said: ‘An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital where he has sadly died as a result of his injuries. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.’

It said that it had referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct in line with protocols for such incidents.
It added: ‘We’re appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident with information, dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
‘Officers are particularly interested in anyone who may have been in the City Road, Park Grange Road, Spring Lane and Northern Avenue areas.’
