Woman’s ‘proper foot present in a coaching shoe’ nonetheless unidentified as police hunt continues

A woman’s right foot was found in a sock and a training shoe in Middleton back in August 1987 with the left foot uncovered a few weeks later but her case still remains a mystery

The mystery of a woman’s ‘right foot found in a training shoe’ in Middleton back in 1987 remains unsolved by police.

The revelation comes as the Missing Persons Bureau launched a database of Britain’s unsolved deaths. The heart-wrenching website contains several images and identifying features of over 1000 men and woman, as well as details of 105 unclaimed babies.

The database is packed with grim photos, showing victims’ faces taken from mortuaries and items found on them including jewelley and clothes, as well as sketches and reconstructions of their faces. One particular photo details a right foot found inside a sock and training shoe which was found at Middleton on August 5, 1987.

At the end of the month, on August 31, a left foot was found in an identical sock and training shoe, British size 4, at Heysham. According to the database, it came from a white European woman between the ages of 17 and 50 and the trainers were grey and blue with three vertical stripes on the side

The socks where white and made of a material similar to cotton. The case, number 06-023699, still remains an unsolved mystery to this day, and the rest of the body is still missing too. Similarly, the database also details the body of a white European man, found on the salt marshes on the River Lune estuary near Glasson Dock on August 10, 2015, according to the Lancashire Post.

The man thought to be between the ages of 30 and 70, had collar length brown hair and was 170cm tall. He was wearing black ‘Derri’ boots, a burgundy beanie hat with the ‘Adidas’ logo on the front, a blue hooded ‘Highpoint’ waterproof jacket, small size, a black jacket with ‘Northern Profile Security Services’ motif on the left chest area, a red, green and blue woollen jumper and a multi-coloured check shirt.
