Customers and employees at a Christmas pop-up bar in Kansas City, Missouri, were forced to take matters into their own hands when a man returned with a knife after being kicked out
When a man armed with a knife returned to a Christmas pop-up bar from which he had been ejected earlier in the night, patrons and staff took control of the situation by hurling bar stools at him.
Rustam Huseinov, 37, was booted out of Miracle on the Plaza, a festive pop-up bar in Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza, around 11 pm on December 14 after allegedly assaulting a worker. He came back an hour later wielding a “large kitchen knife,” according to police reports, and is said to have tried to attack the staff who had just shown him the door.
Throughout the incident, he was reportedly shouting that he was going to “end them”.
The police arrived just as customers and staff started throwing bar stools at Huseinov, managing to corner him where he couldn’t harm anyone. He was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple felonies and a misdemeanour, reports the Mirror US.
His charges include four counts of armed criminal action, one count of second-degree assault, one count of first-degree terroristic threat and one count of first-degree trespassing.
According to KCTV, the culprit was banged up in Jackson County Detention Center, on a bond of $75,000. He appeared in court on Monday where he asked if his bond could be reduced.
He’s now barred from going within 1,000 feet of the boozer.
In a statement issued after the incident, Miracle on the Plaza applauded the “heroic actions” of staff and promised extra security at the location.
Physical damages, including broken glassware, totalled more than $3,000, and unpaid tabs from the 75 customers who had been in the location at the time came to over $900. Huseinov faces several years in prison for the charges.
