The first heartbreaking image has emerged of a devoted couple killed in a tragic hit-and-run on Boxing Day. Loving parents Anthony Hogg, aged 40, and Georgina Hogg-Moore, 39, were fatally struck on December 26 on Blanchardstown Road North, Dublin.

The couple was enjoying a post-Christmas walk with their daughter near Blanchardstown Shopping Centre when tragedy struck. While Georgina died at the scene, Anthony succumbed to his injuries later in hospital, leaving behind two devastated children.

On December 27, a community gathered in sorrow for a vigil in memory of the pair. Following the incident, a man handed himself into the local police station.

Georgina’s sister, Katie Moore, expressed her grief on social media sparking a flood of heartfelt condolences, reports the Daily Record. In a poignant online message, Katie pleaded: “Thanks for all the texts and calls. As you can imagine as a family we are absolutely broken-hearted, but if anyone knows anything please come forward I beg.”

Responses poured in with one woman writing, “Oh my God Katie. I’m so so sorry. All my memories from school were of Georgina and her madness. So sorry.”

Another added, “So sorry for your loss Katie. Georgina and Anto will be missed so very much by so many people.”

“Sincerest condolences to you and your families. May they rest in eternal blessed peace. I know your Daddy is hugging them both up there. Sending yous so much loves and hugs. Such a shock. Such an awful shock.”

A man handed himself in after the incident

The authorities reported that a man in his 40s had been taken into custody following the incident. A statement said: “Investigating Gardaí arrested a man (aged in his 40s) in connection with this incident…on Thursday 26th December 2024. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Dublin.

“A technical examination of the scene has been completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has now reopened. Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.”
