Darts fans on social media were left hailing Callan Rydz after he produced a stunning performance to dump Dimitri van den Bergh out of the PDC World Darts Championship.

Rydz, who reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 edition of the tournament at the Alexandra Palace, dumped 11th seed Van den Bergh out in emphatic fashion, storming to a 4-0 win over the Belgian. The 26-year-old registered an impressive average of 105.31 against Van den Bergh – a figure which stood at 115.94 after the first two sets where Rydz hit six 180s.

While Van den Bergh made a late push to try and salvage a comeback effort, Rydz slammed the door shut on the Belgian to advance to the last 16, where he will play the winner of Ricky Evans and Robert Owen’s third round match.

Speaking to Sky Sports following the win, Rydz said: “I’m over the moon. I didn’t give Dimi a sniff and I’ve got to do the same in the last 16. Buzzing with the result and can’t wait to be back here.”

And darts fans on social media were left impressed by the performance Rydz produced at the Ally Pally. “Callan Rydz has a massive chance at winning the World’s – genuinely in unstoppable form, just needs to keep his head,” wrote one fan on X.
