Luke Littler is two games away from Paddy Power PDC World Darts Championship glory and Daily Star Sport looks at how Luke Littler has changed his diet
Luke Littler is two games away from glory.
The Nuke, 17, booked his spot in the Paddy Power PDC World Darts Championship semi-finals on New Year’s Day with a dominant display against Nathan Aspinall. And the darting sensation is now set to clash with Stephen Bunting with a spot in the final on the line.
However, ahead of that clash, Good Morning Britain’s Adil Ray sparked fury when he poked fun at Littler’s physique: “I’m a little bit worried about Littler. He’s 17 and he’s turning into the look of a darts player.”
Adil added: “He’s going to get more successful and he can keep on doing it but I don’t want him to get too unhealthy… Just before the final. Here you go, I’ve got a salad for you from Pret!”
Littler made headlines last year when he asked the Ally Pally, en route to the final, if he should have another kebab. He also opened up on his diet: “I will just do what I have been doing. In the morning, I will go for my ham-and-cheese omelette.
“Then for lunch, I will have my pizza. I will practice on the board. That’s what I have done every day.”
After the worlds, however, and scoffing on his loved ‘kebab wrap’, a doner kebab with lettuce, onion, mayo and chips, Littler vowed to change his diet for the better. Littler said: “It’s not seen as a good thing (fast food). Darts players get what we want (food wise), really.”
He said, however, he needed to ‘look after’ himself on tour – and that his manager warned him it was ‘all fast food’ when most darts competitions finished.
Littler continued: “My manager said ‘When you finish it could be 11 or 12, it’s all fast food’. So I’ve got to look after myself, eat before I play. When I’ve finished, even if I stay up to whenever, I just won’t eat.
“This is my new way of living.”
And Littler has stuck to that new brand of living when he was quizzed on how he spend New Year’s Eve, he told Sky Sports: “I had a nice chat with my mum and dad, a nice Chinese and then I went to bed!”
