Ariana Grande revealed that she feared she was ‘being catfished’ after receiving a message from English singer and songwriter, Imogen Heap.
When asked if she ever gets starstruck, the Wicked star, 31, hilariously recalled her first interactions with Heap, 47, who she described as ‘brilliant in every way.’
‘Imogen Heap is my idol—my number one favorite musician, songwriter, producer of all time. The first time I got a message from her, I thought I was being catfished,’ the singer admitted to W Magazine.
Grande previously included a remake of Heap’s track, Goodnight and Go, on her album, Sweetener.
In 2018, Heap confirmed to Billboard that she and Grande had met ‘a few times’ before and she had previously seen the superstar’s covers of her work.
‘I think for her 21st birthday — her mom emailed me somehow and asked, “Can Ariana come over for dinner?” So she came to my house in the middle of the countryside in the outskirts of London and I didn’t have my mobile on so I couldn’t hear her calling me and they were completely lost going up and down this weird backstreet of the countryside,’ Grande recalled.

She continued: ‘I think Ariana really thought that it was a big setup where she was going to get murdered. Eventually I opened the door and there she was. I knew she was coming so I cooked her some lentils because she’s a vegan.’
In 2014, Grande told Seventeen she ‘would love to collaborate with’ Heap, who she said was her ‘all-time favorite artist.’
‘I adore her,’ the singer gushed. ‘Every single thing she’s ever put out, I completely devoured and learned every single lyric, every harmony, every part. She’s inspired me so much throughout the years and I would love to be able to work with her if I could make it through the session without bawling or having a breakdown and crying my eyes out.’
During her latest interview with W Magazine, Grande also spoke about her love of The Wizard of Oz as a child.
‘I used to sit in front of the TV in my little gingham dress and study Judy Garland’s body movements, how she held herself and Toto. My first impersonation may have been Judy Garland,’ she said.
Grande continued: ‘I’ve always had a fascination with sounds and tones and different accents—my first memory is singing with my mom in the car to Barbra Streisand or *NSYNC or Over the Rainbow. I don’t remember a time when singing wasn’t a part of my life.’
She also mused over a memory of herself ‘watching The Wizard of Oz in the gingham dress paired with a Scream mask.’
When asked why a Scream mask, Grande explained it was her ‘creative vision for it.’

‘I said, “I need to put a spin on this and wear it with a Jason mask or a Scream mask” or something. But I was a huge musical fan in general. This is kind of controversial to say, but I loved Avenue Q, even though it won the Tony for Best Musical over Wicked. But Wicked, of course, is my number one,’ she told the outlet.
The former child star, who role to fame as Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious, also revealed that her first acting gig was a ‘bumblebee in a school play.’
‘I spontaneously did a bit onstage that I didn’t ask the teacher permission to do. I ripped the stinger off of my costume and stung one of my fellow actors. I had to have been around 5 or 6,’ Grande said.

As for if there is a movie that makes her cry, the singer said The Waterboy, with Adam Sandler, makes’ her cry.
‘When they’re mean to Bobby Boucher, I cry. I don’t like it. I love Bobby Boucher. He says, “Would you please still be my friend?” and I lose it. But I cry at everything,’ she explained.
Grande also stated that her favorite reality show is Love Is Blind.
‘That series is just fantastic to me,’ she said, before noting that she does ‘check sometimes’ to see if they are still together on Instagram.
