Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has a tough decision to make.
Now obviously whatever he decides to do, the Anfield vice-captain will continue to be a very wealthy man, but it doesn’t mean it is an easy choice. He’s destined to be Reds captain one day if he signs a new deal and the way his new manager Arne Slot has started at the club, he should continue to win trophies.
But Alexander-Arnold has also won everything for the Reds already – a Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup and two League Cups included – and there is the opportunity of a new challenge elsewhere.
At 26, the England international who grew up in the city’s West Derby suburb can move abroad, live a different lifestyle and play for another one of the biggest clubs in the world.
It is easy for us to sit here and go ‘why would you leave your boyhood club for anywhere else?’ But some people want to experience different things in life. Maybe Alexander-Arnold is one of them.
He’s not in a bad position to be in but it will surely be one of the toughest decisions he makes in his career. Take the money away, making big calls like that is not easy, no matter who you are.
ONSIDE
Josh Windass. An incredible goal from the Sheffield Wednesday man.
OFFSIDE
Barcelona and Dani Olmo. What a fine mess that they can’t register the player.
