And his shock confession of needing the white noise to sooth him to sleep left Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Roy Keane dumbfounded as they struggled to get their heads around his bizarre bedtime routine.
His admission came as Gary recalled the time when Wayne was unable to be roused while asleep in his hotel room after first being called up to the England squad back in 2003.
Gary told how a spare key had to be acquired from the reception ahead of Wayne’s very first team meeting, with the football ace going on to reveal the reason for this.

The former Portsmouth Argyle manager , 39, made the bizarre confession during an episode of the Stick To Football podcast , after being reminded of a moment in his early football career
After confirming that he was playing for West Ham at the time, Wayne explained: ‘I’ve done that a few times where I’ve fell asleep, I like to have a sleep in the afternoons as well. When I go to sleep, I sleep with the hair dryer on blowing in my face…’
The confession caused Arsenal legend Ian to burst into giggles as he asked: ‘The hot hair dryer?’ with Wayne clarifying he prefers the cold air.
Explaining how this became a problem when he dozed in hotels, he explained ‘Sometimes that blanks the alarm and I sleep through.’
Questioning him further, Ian then asked: ‘So you needed that white noise?’, with Wayne adding: ‘I still have it now. So when I’m in a hotel on my own I have a hair dryer on’.
Baffled by his pal’s unusual sleep preferences, Ian went on to ask whether Wayne uses apps to aid his sleep instead of a hair dryer.
With Wayne then stating: ‘I’ve tried all different things, I’ve tried the apps, I’ve tried everything’.
When asked if the electrical device had to be close to him, Wayne held up his hand and confirmed the hair dryer is placed right in front of his face.
Shocked by Wayne’s admission, Roy then chimes in, asking: ‘Is it on all night?’, before swearing as Wayne confirmed it was.
