A footballer has been left with “severe burns” after a firework incident. Aaron Chalmers, who plays for Bury FC, was injured in the “accident” on New Year’s Eve (December 31), his club has revealed.

The 33 year old missed the Shakers’ 4-0 defeat at West Didsbury and Chorlton today (Saturday) due to his injuries. In an interview shared on the club’s YouTube page, Bury manager Dave McNabb said he expected Chalmers to be out for “a couple of months, maybe a bit more”.

“He has had a bit of an accident on New Year’s Eve with a firework, which has resulted in pretty severe burns,” he said. “It’s not going to be a quick one with Aaron unfortunately, it’s a massive, massive miss.”
