Gary Neville was spotted trying to shovel snow back onto the pitch at Anfield to ‘try and postpone’ Manchester United’s clash against Liverpool at Anfield
Gary Neville was seen jokingly trying to shovel snow back onto the pitch at Anfield in an effort to ‘try and postpone’ Manchester United‘s clash against Liverpool.
Heavy snowfall over the course of Saturday night and into Sunday morning had threatened the game potentially being called off. But, the game at Anfield will now go ahead as planned.
The clash between the two sees Liverpool seeking to go eight points clear of second placed Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table, while United come into the contest languishing in 14th place after having lost their last three games without even scoring a single goal.
With United in such poor form, you could forgive their supporters for hoping the game against Liverpool would be called off due to the weather.
However, despite the game being confirmed to be on, Neville tried his best to get it ‘called off’, with the ex-United star spotted trying to shovel snow back onto the pitch at Anfield as his punditry partner Jamie Carragher was shovelling it off.
Sky Sports presenter Dave Jones said: “And also with us today, two men who had a different view about whether this game should be on today, Jamie Carragher doing his best to clear the snow off the pitch, Gary Neville trying to get it back on we could have this game called off.
“It didn’t work, we have game on thankfully here at Anfield.”
Thankfully, football supporters on social media took Neville’s joke in good faith. “Nev, ur not working fast enough,” joked one fan.
“Gary Neville is all of us United fans today,” added another. A third said: “never thought I’d see myself laughing because of Gary what a time to be alive.”
A fourth added: “Gary and Carra are having fun out there lol.” And a fifth said: “This is brilliant.”
