Tesla boss Elon Musk has taken to social media to ask whether America should ‘liberate’ the UK and its citizens, in another swipe at UK politics after his comments about Nigel Farage
Elon Musk has shared a poll from his social media site X asking whether America should step in and help ‘liberate the people of Britain.’
Musk’s poll came just one day after he shared a scathing remark against the leader of the Reform Party, Nigel Farage, where he said the politician and former I’m a Celeb star was not fit to lead his party. Musk has been making a name for himself in US politics after Trump appointed him as the leader of his new Department of Government Efficiency (Doge).
Now, Musk seems to have set his sight on this side of the Atlantic, and has asked his loyal followers weather Americans should step in. The poll, which was shared January 6, already has a whopping 70k votes with more to come.
Musk wrote: “America should liberate the people of Britain from their tyrannical government.” Underneath, followers could answer with a simple “yes,” or “no.”
Of the thousands of answers, 71.7% of people voted for “yes.” Only 28.3% of presumably American voters said no.
Underneath, several followers added their own comments of agreement, with one suggesting the UK could become the “51st state.” Another added: “One million percent YES.”
A third shared a photo of Keir Starmer with the words “Liar” added over, and penned: “He should be jailed ASAP.” A fourth noted: “It would be nice if we could get the British, Canadians, New Zealanders, & Aussie’s to adopt our Bill of Rights. The first two amendments alone would work wonders.”
The first two amendments on the US protects freedom of speech, religion, the press, and assembly, and gives citizens the right to bear arms. While some were keen, some followers were put off with the idea.
Someone added: “No more foreign wars.” Another said: “I don’t know, this screams colonialism era all over again.”
Musk also shared a swipe at Jess Phillips over the weekend. He said the Safeguarding Minister “deserves to be in prison” for rejecting a request by Oldham Council for the Home Office to manage an inquiry into child sex trafficking rings in the UK.
However, Labour MP Andrew Gwynne swiped back at the Tesla boss and suggested he should “focus on issues on the other side of the Atlantic” instead of firing off criticisms at Britain and Keir Starmer’s government.
In another bizarre swipe at UK politics, the South African also called for the release of imprisoned far-right activist Tommy Robinson and wants the King to dissolve our parliament for a new general election. Following this, he wrote on X: “The Reform Party needs a new leader. Farage doesn’t have what it takes.”
