Jodie Foster‘s triumphant fifth win at the 2025 Golden Globes was momentarily interrupted by a playful heckle from a fellow nominee.
The Silence of the Lambs star, 62, won for Best Actress in a Limited Series for her role as police chief Liz Danvers in True Detective: Night Country.
However, her fellow nominee Sofía Vergara, 52, who portrayed the infamous ‘Cocaine Godmother’ Griselda Blanco in the series Griselda, heckled the Hollywood icon as she got up onstage.
As the announcer told the crowd that it was Foster’s ’10th nomination and fifth win’ Vergara was pictured rising up from her seat and approaching the stage as she exclaimed, ‘Oh no, give me one!’
‘I know, I know,’ Jodie replied while chuckling, as she acknowledged Vergara’s good-natured jest.
The camera then cut to Sofia’s face, who looked momentarily serious before breaking into a laugh.

Jodie also acknowledged Sofia in her speech, telling the crowd: ‘The greatest thing about being this age and being in this time is having a community of all these people, especially you, Sofia.’
She went on to thank ‘Our True Detective team who I love so much, we are only here for one reason, and that is the wonderful, beautiful showrunner, writer, director. So grateful to you and your talent and your friendship.’
She also thanked ‘the indigenous people who share their stories with us. They’ve changed my life, hopefully they will change yours.’
Jodie also thanked her family, including her sons Kit, 23 — who accompanied her to the event — and Charles, 26, whom she shares with ex Cydney Bernard, 71, and her spouse, Alexandra Hedison, 55.
‘Kit, my scientist son, and Charlie, my actor son who is starting his career, hopefully you understand the joy, such joy that comes from doing really hard, meaningful, good work.’
‘So, my boys, I love you, and this of course is for you, and the love of my life, Alex. Thank you forever.’
After Jodie finished her speech the camera once again cut to Sofia, as she pretended to be frustrated before laughing.
Foster previously won a Golden Globe for best actress for The Accused (1989), The Silence of the Lambs (1992) and best supporting actress in The Mauritanian (2021). She was also honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2013.
Earlier in the night both Jodie and Sofia wowed in black gowns on the red carpet.
Jodie’s gown featured sparkling silver details along the collar and sleeves. Meanwhile Sofia had all eyes on her in a metallic mermaid gown.

Zoe Saldana led Emilia Perez to top honors while Demi Moore became a first time winner at 62 at the Golden Globes 2025 on Sunday night where Shōgun and The Brutalist were also big winners.

When it came to television, it was Shōgun which swept the drama categories including Best TV Series and individual honors for Anna Sawai, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Tadanobu Asano.
However, the most shocking moment certainly came when Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres triumphed over A-listers Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, and Pamela Anderson in the Best Actress – Drama for I’m Still Here.
Emilia Perez earned the most awards on the night with four but truly had it’s crowning moment at the end of the night as the film earned Best Film – Musical or Comedy over Anora, Challengers, A Real Pain, The Substance, and Wicked

‘I have a lot of things to say to you, because you can maybe put us in jail, you can beat us up, but you never can take away our soul, our existence, our identity. I want to say to you, raise your voice. And say, I am who I am. No who you are. Thank you so much.’
In Emilia Perez, Zoe plays Rita Mora Castro who is a lawyer as the film is centered around four remarkable women pursuing their individual happiness in Mexico.
Cartel leader Emilia (played by Karla Sofia Gascon) enlists Rita, an unappreciated lawyer, to help fake her death so that she can finally live authentically as her true self.
The 2025 Golden Globe Awards kicked off in fine form as Zoe upset Ariana Grande to take home the first award of the night.
The 46-year-old actress was emotional as she earned Best Supporting Female Actor for her transcendent work in Emilia Perez.
She triumphed over an impressive field which included the aforementioned Ariana for Wicked in addition to Selena Gomez for Emilia Pérez, Felicity Jones for The Brutalist, Margaret Qualley for The Substance, and Isabella Rossellini for Conclave.
Meanwhile, Demi was left shocked as she earned Best Actress in Musical or Comedy for The Substance.
The 62-year-old actress gave a riveting speech about the journey it took her to get to this crowning achievement.
Foster’s triumphant turn in True Detective: Night Country has earned her a win in the category for Best Female Actor in a Limited Series (seen in a still)
She won over a very impressive field including: Amy Adams for Nightbitch, Cynthia Erivo for Wicked, Karla Sofía Gascón for Emilia Pérez, Mikey Madison for Anora, and Zendaya for Challengers.
Demi began her acceptance speech by saying: ‘Oh, wow! I really wasn’t expecting that. I’m just in shock right now. I’ve been doing this a long time, like, over 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor. And I am just so humbled and so grateful.
’30 years ago I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress, and at that time I made that mean that this is not something I was allowed to have. That I could do movies that were successful and made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be acknowledged, and I bought in and I believed that.’
‘That corroded me over time, to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it, maybe I was complete, maybe I had done what I was supposed to do.’
